1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird

The post Diamler-Benz, Hedge Fund Owned (for now) Chrysler corporation is such a bona fide
joke it's tough to remember what they once were.  Though many of the current cars would be
an embarrassment on the Daewoo showroom, the Superbird embarrassed many of it's
competitors at the race track.  Designed for Nascar races and tweeked in a wind tunnel,
the Superbird and it's sister ship the Dodge Daytona are without a doubt two of the most over
the top extroverted American cars ever built.  Hell, the horn even mimics the Road Runner's
trademark beep-beep.

Royal Coffee Maker

Here is an interesting variation of the vacuum coffee maker. The balancing siphon
design dates to the 1800's and removes some of the fidgity-ness of vacuum coffee
makers. The operation is pretty simple and this company makes a numbeer of
different models. Check out the short video to see it in action. I can't speak to the
quality of this paticular product, but it's an interesting twist on making coffee.

Smart ForTwo vs. Mercedes 300 Crash Test Video

Holy Crap! They should call it the ForShit ! Just the other day I was telling
someone the Smart was relatively safe, not so much as it turns out.

EcoClad - Recycled Paper Exterior Siding

Developed and manufactured in the Washington State by KlipTech (who also make recycled
paper countertops), EcoClad is constructed 0f post-consumer paper, bamboo fibers and a
water based binder. It comes in a variety of wood grains and colors and seems like a very
versatile material. Check it out @ www.kliptech.com

The Skyscraper Page

Because they have a somewhat obnoxious copyright notification (which IMHO is self
defeating) this is a stock photo. Never the less, this site has a very cool illustrations and
diagrams database that let's you visually compare most high rises. It really is worth a

Huge Jacobs Ladder

Caused by a malfunctioning 500kv switch opening hot.

Oberwerk Astronomy Binoculars

With objective lenses nearly 4 inches wide, these babies are perfect if you have a house with a great view, are into stargazing, or if you're just a plain old peeping tom or paparazzo. Interchangeable eyepieces allow various magnifications and a tripod stabilizes the view (good thing as these massive binocs weigh 25 pounds). This model retails for around $2,000, but Oberwork also has other somewhat less giant (merely huge) binoculars at a more recession worthy price. More at..

Honda CBX 6 Cylinder Superbike - The Last 70's Bike

To me, this is the last and ultimate 1970's bike,  looking for all the world like a 1970 CB750 on
the juice, with more chrome than a 1950's Buick, the CBX marked the end of an era. The
game changing Kawasaki GPZ Ninja's essentially put the nail in the CBX's coffin and it faded
away quietly in 1982, largely un-noticed.

Suzuki DR-Z400SM - Let's get motarded in here.

Chiefly a European phenomena, supermoto is a kindof hybrid between Motocross and Street
racing.  A Supermoto track is much shorter and twistier than a regular track and often includes
a small dirt section.  Predictably, the bikes that evolved in supermoto are a hybrid of
Motocross & Street Bikes called supermotards. Combining the lightweight nimble handling of a dirt bike with powerfull brakes and sticky tires, the Supermotard is probably the best City bike
you can get.  Suzuki is the first Japanese brand to offer a turnkey production Supermotard, the
Dr-Z400sm will set you back around $6,500 Suzuki

The Blankoat - The Smuggie of Slankets

IF the Snuggie and the Slanket are not (AirQuote)ironic(/AirQuote) enough for you and the Skanket is too trailer park, you need the Blankoat, a $300 Icelandic Wool blanket with arms guaranteed to keep you smug and warm while camping out to get tickets for the next Ting Tings or Enon show.  Emporer Palpatine Endorsed !
Link: The Blankoat

PS: How long before L.L. Bean starts selling an embroidered version.
PSII: Do fundamentalist Mormon Snuggies have a hole in them?

Orange Maxi Racing Catamaran

A cool short video of the maxi catamaran Orange pushing 40mph in the open ocean.
I believe this cat still owns the circumnavigation record having done it in 50 days,
which is almost a month faster than the fastest powerboat.

Shakes The Clown - The Citizen Kane of Alcoholic Clown Movies

While Leonard Maltin may hate this movie, both Martin Scorcese and I like it.
In any case Bobcat Goldthwait will be directing another movie with Robin Williams
in it, no word yet on whether Florence Henderson is on board. Here's a scene
with Goldthwait and Williams as mimes.
